Carestream Dental, a subsidiary of Carestream Health, is pleased to announce its parent company was awarded a total of 43 U.S. patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2016; of those patents, over a quarter pertained to dental technology. The companies also received 52 additional patents in Europe and Asia, 24 of which were dental-related.

Carestream Dental’s new patents range from advancements in intraoral radiography, intraoral cameras and imaging software. Some of the new patents include new methods for detecting and indentifying caries using intraoral cameras; a method for teeth segmentation and alignment detection in a CBCT volume; and even column height sensing for extraoral systems.
