ATLANTA—Carestream Dental, a leader in providing integrated digital dental solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Malcolmson as the new general manager of its CAD/CAM business unit, also known as CS Solutions.

In this role, Malcolmson will oversee product line management, operations, R&D and functional business teams to continue to develop solutions for the oral healthcare industry. He brings with him more than 20 years of management experience in analytical instrumentation, medical devices, hospital IT and cloud solutions, including R&D, sales, marketing, professional services and business development.

He most recently served as vice president/general manager at Hach (A Danaher Company), where he oversaw the company’s newly created digital solutions business unit. Malcolmson has also held leadership positions at Invacare and Medtronic and has worked in a number of startups including a SaaS medical diagnostics company that he founded.

“Andrew has extensive experience in nurturing key partnerships and developing strategic sales and distribution agreements,” Lisa Ashby, CEO, Carestream Dental, said. “Digital dentistry and CAD/CAM are changing the way dentists practice and we clearly see this area of business is becoming increasingly important. Andrew will help Carestream Dental broaden its solutions and provide more options for our customers.”

Malcolmson holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Florida. He is a dual citizen of both the U.S. and Canada and will be based in Carestream Dental’s Atlanta headquarters.

Launched in 2013, Carestream Dental’s CAD/CAM portfolio originally included an intraoral scanner, a milling machine and restorative design software. Today, CS Solutions has grown to offer solutions for several workflows and specialties, including CS Solutions for Implants, CS Solutions for Orthodontics and CS Solutions for Restorations. What started with just three pieces of technology now includes several intraoral scanners, including the CS 3600 and CS 3700; the CS 3100 milling system; multiple design software and modules; and partnerships with third-party labs and manufacturers to help dentists build the workflow that makes the most sense for their practices.
