Carestream Dental to Host ‘Virtual Trade Show’ in Light of Cancellation

ATLANTA—When the Hinman Dental Society made the difficult decision to cancel its annual trade show typically held in Carestream Dental’s hometown of Atlanta, Ga., the company was quick to turn a disappointment into a digital innovation. In lieu of a physical trade show booth, Carestream Dental will take booth #1529 online and use social media platforms and the company’s new eCommerce website to offer product demos and trade show deals.

“We look forward to Hinman every year, especially since it’s in our own backyard,” Jeremy Thomas, general managers, the Americans, Carestream Dental, said. “It’s our chance to see familiar faces from across the Southeast, but as a healthcare company, we understand the need to be cautious in today’s environment. So, we got creative and are taking the trade show online.”

On Friday, March 20, what would have been the second day of the Hinman trade show, Carestream Dental will host a virtual trade show using Facebook Live. The state-of-the-art operatory in Carestream Dental’s new headquarters has played host to many visiting doctors and industry partners but will now virtually welcome viewers from across the country. Product experts will give live demos, doctors will answer questions and promotions that would have only been available to trade show attendees will be offered across the country.

People who visit the “Shop Online” section of Carestream Dental’s website will find special show pricing on scanners, bundles for implant workflows and buy-one-get-one-at-no-cost offers. Oral healthcare professionals will also have access to CBCT deals and 0 percent financing when working directly with their sales rep. These deals will be available from March 16-23.

“The theme of the meeting was ‘Come Home to Hinman,’ so in a way streaming the virtual trade show from our HQ operatory is a way to invite people to visit Carestream Dental’s ‘home’,” Thomas said. 

While in this case, extenuating circumstances prompted the need for a digital platform, Carestream Dental had already been exploring novel ways for oral healthcare professionals to experience its technology virtually. For example, the company recently experimented with holograms of its technology at trade shows to reduce its footprint and cut back on waste. It’s another part of Carestream Dental’s ongoing commitment to using data-driven insights to fuel digital workflows.
