PRESS RELEASE: Latest Launches from Carestream Dental Interconnect to Deliver Better Implant Outcomes for Patients, Business Outcomes for Practices

NASHVILLE—Over the past several years, Carestream Dental has been transforming the clinical, practice management and business aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery to be less siloed and more connected so doctors and business owners can build the practice of the future. The technology that makes this all possible will be on display in booth #418 at the 2021 AAOMS Annual Meeting.

Today, doctors placing implants start the process with an intraoral scanner, like the CS 3800 wireless, for more precise implant planning and restorations. The latest wireless scanner from Carestream Dental makes it easier to scan edentulous patients and can capture highly accurate scans of abutments and scan bodies. Once an impression is captured, it can be seamlessly exported to any number of platforms or modules, like the Swissmeda Dental Planning System for designing drilling templates.

Or oral surgeons can combine the digital impression with a cone beam computed tomography scan captured by the award-winning CS 9600 to complete prosthetic-driven implant planning. Carestream Dental’s most intelligent imaging system—powered by smart technology that leads to first-time-right imaging—recently won its third Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award, the only imaging system to win more than once.

No matter where the doctor plans to take their case after capturing all their imaging data, they can upload and share all their large CBCT and digital impression files through the Imaging Case and Collaboration app. Just like technology today easily connects for smoother planning and more successful treatment, the ICC app makes it easier for doctors, referrals and labs to connect by sharing and collaborating on cases.

“We can no longer think of implant planning in pieces,” Ed Shellard, D.M.D, chief dental officer, Carestream Dental, said. “Bringing it all together is what leads to more confident diagnoses; faster turnaround from design to guide; and better outcomes for patients. This is all made possible by seamless integration, powerful algorithms and rich data that gives doctors all the information they need to plan and place with confidence.”

Of course, practice management is where the clinical side of oral surgery meets the business side, so in addition to experiencing Carestream Dental’s latest equipment, visitors to booth #418 can also sign up to be beta testers for Sensei Cloud with OMS capabilities. Sensei Cloud is Carestream Dental’s Software-as-a-Service platform that gives users a streamlined, web-like user experience. With new OMS capabilities, oral surgery practices will be able to scale their operations and easily manage multiple practices across different locations.

The long-awaited WinOMS v10 is also being showcased at AAOMS. The latest updates include new integration capabilities that make attracting and retaining patients easier; enhanced security to protect sensitive patient data; and updates to reporting and the anesthesia record; EMR enhancements and an overall improved user experience. WinOMS hosted users will be the first to benefit from this update, while on-premise customers will be able to upgrade v10 soon.
