Carestream Dental Celebrates the Holiday Season as a Presenting Sponsor of CDA Cares

On the weekend before Thanksgiving, Nov. 21-22, 1,861 Californians were thankful to receive dental care at no charge from the California Dental Association (CDA) Foundation at the CDA Cares Pomona event. Carestream Dental was just as thankful for the opportunity to provide equipment and volunteers to this important biannual event.

For the third year in a row, and for the sixth time, Carestream Dental acted as a presenting sponsor of CDA Cares and donated three CS 8100 panoramic systems and a dozen RVG 6100 sensors, along with 12 volunteers from the Carestream Dental team.

Both the extraoral and intraoral equipment provided delivers digital images within seconds, which meant faster diagnoses from doctors and less waiting time for patients. Considering the large volume of people seeking care, fast, accurate results were vital in ensuring that the most patients were treated.

The ultra-compact CS 8100 produces clear and sharp digital images that allow dentists to examine detailed, anatomically correct images to aid in their diagnoses. The RVG 6100 provides exceptional image resolution of individual teeth and helps to identify decay and cavities, as well as more serious issues.

“It’s incredible to be able to see Carestream Dental equipment in action and making such a difference in people’s lives,” Shauna Holliday, director of U.S. regional sales for Carestream Dental, said. “My sales team and I always look forward to volunteering at this event.”

Over the course of two days, Carestream Dental volunteers captured 423 panoramic images at a value of $52,875. In total, $1.66 million in oral health care services were provided to those who would not otherwise have access to dental care. This was made possible by the effort of 1,752 volunteers including dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, lab techs, dental students and community volunteers.

The CDA Foundation was formed as the philanthropic arm of the California Dental Association in 2001 with the mission to improve the oral health of all Californians by supporting the dental health profession in its efforts to meet community needs. The CDA Foundation provides grants and scholarships to dental students and professionals, promotes oral health prevention and education, and holds dental clinics around the state that provide dental care at no charge to Californians in need. www.cdafoundation.org.
