Carestream Dental hosted its 2014 Orthodontic Users Conference from Friday, March 14, through Sunday, March 16, near its headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. The three-day conference for orthodontists boasted a full schedule of classes on CS OrthoTrac—Carestream Dental’s leading orthodontic practice management software—and other current industry topics.

In November 2013, Carestream Dental welcomed aboard the newest member of its product line management team. Bringing with him more than 20 years of experience in the health information systems industry, Jeff Urkevich came to Carestream Dental to take the helm of CS SoftDent practice management software, and he’s excited for the year ahead.

Carestream Dental has partnered with MicroDental Laboratories to offer practices using CS 3500 intraoral scanners the ability to fabricate a range of dental restorations at any of their in-network labs. Accordingly, dental practices can now send image data captured with the CS 3500 directly to MicroDental Laboratories located in the United States and Canada for fabrication.

Periodontal applications obviously require high-resolution images to properly visualize intricate anatomical features. This can be especially helpful for patients whose symptoms are consistent with multiple different types of pathology. In this case, having the CBCT scan at our disposal not only enabled the patient to keep her teeth, but helped us to know what to expect under the gums before we picked up a scalpel.
