Carestream Dental today showcased two new products at CDA South that expand general practitioners’ diagnostic capabilities and streamline daily workflows—the CS Adapt Module for the RVG 6200 sensor and the CS 8100SC scanning cephalometric imaging system.

A 61-year-old male presented for evaluation of a failing mandibular right bridge (Fig 1). Options discussed with patient included to remove the bridge and leave the area unrestored; replace with a mandibular removable partial denture; or restoration with implants. The patient elected for removal of the bridge and placement of three endosseous implants for three crowns.

Lisa Ashby has been appointed president of Carestream Dental effective May 4. As a member of the executive leadership team, she will lead the company’s global dental organization. Ashby brings more than 26 years of corporate business expertise acquired during a successful career at Cardinal Health—a $100 billion healthcare products and services provider—where she held positions of increasing responsibility.

Intraoral scanners have been a part of my practice since 2002; however, over time, I decided to change to a new system because I didn’t like being locked into one company and being told which labs I could use. After looking at a number of different solutions, I decided on the CS 3500. The Carestream Dental scanner offers open-format STL files, so I could send the data to the lab of my choice.
